Put to the test at the Tulip Trade Event
During the Tulip Trade Event being held from March 30 through April 1, visitors can view a selection of tulips from the 8 participating companies. The latest developments and most interesting varieties will be on display. Given the joint organisation of this tulip event, foreign visitors are encouraged to plan an efficient tour of our country. That will strengthen the export position of the Dutch tulip, still the most popular product of the Dutch bulb-growing industry.
Quality and availability
All displayed varieties during the Tulip Trade Event are selected on bases of quality and availability. Because the participating companies hold their open days at the same time, visitors can compare the varieties on offer.
Learning from each other
During the Tulip Trade Event, a number of simulated cultivation problems will be demonstrated as well. This allows visitors to gain new knowledge about the available assortment, and about the ways in which certain cultivation problems can be prevented. To realise this, the participants in the Tulip Trade Event collaborated with Proeftuin Zwaagdijk (a horticultural innovation centre).
Simulation of cultivation problems
For this first Tulip Trade Event, the participating companies have chosen two tests. They simulate the problems with leaf topple and the consequences of growing tulips in dirty (non disinfected) hydrotrays. Both tests will be conducted with 5 different tulip varieties. During the Tulip Trade Event, the participating companies will go into detail of how to prevent such problems during cultivation.
