Exporters and breeders join forces for the Tulip Trade Event
Dutch tulip bulbs exporters are really expected to get the wind in their sails from 2016 onwards. Starting next year, the sector will see the inclusion of a brand new experience on the calendar: the Tulip Trade Event. The initiative harmonises the open days of participating exporters and breeders, which were previously held separately. This will make it a great deal easier and of course attractive for the international specialist dealers to obtain a complete overview of what the Netherlands has to offer in a matter of just a few days.

The organisation behind the Tulip Trade Event is already active, with the organisers involved in a range of exporting companies. Prominent sector names are already on board and include P. Aker, Amsonia, Borst Bloembollen, Haakman Flowerbulbs, Nord Lommerse, P. Nelis, VWS Flowerbulbs and Royal van Zanten. The idea is to have at least ten participating businesses involved in the first edition.

With the combined open days, the Tulip Trade Event will mimic another successful business platform: the Dutch Lily Days. Over the last five years, this event has become an important fixture on the international flower bulb calendar. The organisers of the Tulip Trade Event are convinced that the tulip export sector is certain to benefit from a similar initiative. The date for the first edition will be announced shortly.
