Chinese accent at Tulip Trade Event opening

The Tulip Trade Event is proud to inform you that by today we received the confirmation that H.E. Mr. WU Ken, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of the Netherlands (tbc) will join Mr. Johan Remkes, our Kings Commissioner of the province of Noord-Holland by the opening ceremony from the Tulip Trade Event. The opening of the Tulip Trade Event is from 10:00 to 12:00 at Haakman Flowerbulbs, Molenweg 6 in Wervershoof.

During the opening of the Tulip Trade Event on March 15, there will be a special focus on Asia. Mr. Johan Remkes, the King’s Commissioner for North Holland, will baptize a new tulip variety with a China-related name together with a Chinese delegation.

Getting to know the market better and strengthening business relationships are important topics for the second Tulip Trade Event. Dutch tulip bulbs are exported by the eight participating companies to every continent, an achievement worth drawing attention to at this year’s event.

Combined strength evident in tulip christening
During the opening of the first event, a tulip was baptized by the WarChild ambassador Victor Reinier. The focus on WarChild and the opening itself were favourably received by a large audience. The opening of the second event takes place at Haakman Flowerbulbs in Wervershoof. The Tulip Trade Event is particularly proud that Mr. Remkes, the King’s Commissioner for North Holland, will be attending. In the presence of a Chinese delegation, he will baptize the tulip right after the official opening.

Introduction of the new name
A very special name has been chosen for the new tulip variety. On March 15 this will be revealed by Mr. Remkes in the presence of the Chinese delegation. The Tulip Trade Event is thus emphasising the international position of Dutch tulips. The market for tulips in China continues to expand, a promising trend that will be evident to the participants. But this lovely Dutch product is also conquering other part of the world.

The second Tulip Trade Event takes place from 15 to 17 March 2017. All interested parties are warmly welcome to visit P. Aker, Amsonia, Borst Bloembollen, Haakman Flowerbulbs, Holland Bulb Market, Nord Lommerse, P. Nelis and VWS Flowerbulbs.
